Purchasing Consultant  (Senior Purchasing Manager)

This established Construction firm are looking for a Purchasing / Buying Manager for a 6 months FTC in London. There is a good chance this role will become permanent after the 6 months:

Focusing on getting all users – sites to be able to requisition materials efficiently and us to be able to place the orders

  • Suppliers catalogues uploaded them on to the system and link to items on the system
  • Get catalogues for those items

Systems and Internal controls

  • Ensure all supplier are registered on the system.
  • Ensure all materials are ordered consistently processed using the system.
  • Ensure system details are accurately maintained to enable the business to rely on the information for decision making.
  • Assist with the development of the system to maximise automation and focus the team on value-added activities.
  • Forecasting levels of demand for materials to meet the business needs.
  • Developing an organisation's purchasing strategy
  • Producing reports and statistics to support business case for recommendations
  • Agree service level agreements with internal customer and produce KPI to demonstrate performance
  • Foster close working relationships with associated departments eg. Estimating, Commercial and Site team; and Assist in maintaining company quality control program.

 Stores and returns

  • Keeping a constant check on stock levels across all locations
  • Maximise the use of stores at all locations in an efficient manner 

  Technical or specialist experience needed

  • Extensive use of ERP systems within the procurement role
  • Experience of leading a Procurement function particularly through a business change program
  • Experience of construction/Engineering/Manufacturing


 Accreditations / qualifications required or additional comments

  • CIPS or IoSCM Level 5/6 Diploma
  • MS Office particularly Excel but also Outlook and Word
  • MS Dynamics Business Central/NAV
