Senior Health & Safety Manager – Up to £70k – West London – Tier 1 Main Contractor

We now have an immediate requirement for a Senior Health & Safety Manager for a Tier 1 Main Contractor, based on a mixed used project in Hammersmith. Our client is one of the largest and well recognised main contractors within the UK, with over 40 years’ experience with premier residential builds.

The project has a minimum of a three-year life recycle of a refurbishment of an old town hall, worth £160 million, building apartments with retail and office spaces. The project is still in its infancy (demolition stage), so this ideal time for a successful candidate to come in and oversee the project through its life span.

The view is that within the early stages of next year, you would be able to hire a Health & Safety Advisor to report into you whilst you would be reporting directly into the Group Health & Safety Director.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the following:

  • Providing advice and guidance to all health and safety team members based upon company policy and up to date legislation, as well as sample H&S documentation.
  • Stepping in for the Group Health & Safety Director when needed
  • carries out corporate audits and inspections on other projects across London from time to time to benchmark health and safety performance and set-in place processes for improvement.
  • Carries out corporate audits of subcontractors and sets in place processes and monitoring for help and improvement.
  • Acts as a standard bearer and mentor to health and safety team members setting an example of personal dedication and responsibility in the role.  
  • Supporting the Project Manager in respects of Health & Safety


Essential:

  •  An experienced manager, running and owning the Health & Safety aspects.
  • Experience with Groundworks/Pilling/RC Frame/ Refurb Knowledge projects
  •  NVQ Level 5 in H&S/NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice
  • NEBOSH National certificate
  • Temporary Works


Desirable:

  • IPAF for Managers
  • Scaffolding Inspection
  • First Aid at Work
  • Chartered Member of IOSH
